What Annotate AI Does

Annotate AI is a browser extension that lets you highlight and comment on AI chatbot responses (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok), then send structured feedback back to the chatbot. It works entirely within your browser.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All of the following data is stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and never leaves your device:

• Your comments and highlighted text
• Comment history (previously sent batches)
• Your extension settings (theme, highlight color, format preferences)
• Comment usage counts

This data persists across browser sessions. It is deleted if you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data.

Data Shared with Third Parties

ExtensionPay / Stripe (payment processing only): If you upgrade to Pro, your email address and payment information are collected by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) and processed by Stripe (stripe.com) to manage your subscription. We do not store your payment details. ExtensionPay stores your email and paid status.

No other data is transmitted. We do not collect analytics, usage telemetry, browsing history, or any personal information beyond what is required for payment processing.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect or transmit your AI conversations
• We do not collect browsing history or web activity
• We do not track which websites you visit
• We do not use cookies or tracking pixels
• We do not collect device identifiers
• We do not serve or facilitate advertisements
• We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties

Permissions

Annotate AI requests the following browser permissions:

• storage — To save your comments, history, and settings locally in your browser.
• activeTab — To interact with the current tab when you use the extension.
• host_permissions for extensionpay.com — To check your subscription status.

Chrome Web Store User Data Policy Compliance

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data Retention and Deletion

All comment and settings data is stored locally on your device and is automatically deleted when you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data. You can also delete all data for a specific chat at any time from the extension's Settings panel.

If you have a Pro subscription, your email and payment status are retained by ExtensionPay and Stripe according to their respective data retention policies. You can cancel your subscription at any time through the extension's Settings panel.

Children's Privacy

Annotate AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and communicated through the Chrome Web Store listing.
